I had the most wonderful experience speaking at a Stake Relief Society Meeting a few days ago.

I don't know when I've been more fed by the souls of the amazing women in that group.

I felt their love, acceptance and their great value in the eyes of God. Thank you for inviting me.

Speaking To The Amazing Women In Spanish Fork, Utah

I loved meeting with a wonderful women in the Palmyra Stake and the Maple Mountain Stake in Spanish Fork, Utah today. As I spoke to this large group amazing women and looked into their beautiful faces I was overcome with the love of God for each individual sister. The theme of the Women's Conference was "RUN YOUR OWN RACE - Discipleship is not a competition".

Maple Mountain Stake Girl's Camp 2013

 attended the Maple Mountain Stake Girl's Camp this year.
April is the Young Women President in her ward
and Alisa is a 2nd year participant.

A Rich Life Includes the Magic of Words

I like teaching students about the writing process
by explaining the role of the creator, writer and the editor.

I enjoyed visiting at Reese Elementary recently.
These sixth grade students
asked me some of the most mature and thoughtful
questions I've ever been asked.
They truly inspired me!

I love to read and write! If I'm not reading a book, I'm writing one. As an author I'm often asked to give workshops on writing. One of my favorite groups to speak with is elementary age students. They remind me of myself a few short years ago, struggling to find out who I was and what I should do with my life. 

                                                        I know that reading and writing will aid students in their quest for purpose and meaning. I know their lives will always be richer if they embrace the magic of words.Pin It

Uplift Utah Families Conference

I had a wonderful opportunity to speak at the first Uplift Utah Families Conference in SLC at the Salt Palace this last weekend. I especially enjoyed meeting several of those in the audience after the talk. But my favorite part was being with my fabulous daughters April and Arianne. My daughter Arianne took these pictures and blogged about her experience here.

I've spent all of my adult life writing newspaper columns, magazine articles and books that I hope will uplift mothers and fathers in the most important thing they will ever do - raise a family. Yet, what I've wanted more than anything is to become a loving and joyful person, wife, mother and grandmother. My family is everything to me.  

I've never sought out speaking opportunities. They have just come to me. Though I've never been comfortable being in the spotlight, I find myself looking into the beautiful faces and the tender hearts of those I speak to. I see unique and priceless souls that I long to know, encourage and love. Pin It

Spending Time in Moroni Utah

I spoke to the women and their daughters of the Moroni Stake tonight about the joy of service.

Many of those who attended shared their personal experiences and I learned so much from them.

My husband has worked with many of the turkey growers in Sanpete County for years

and we have both grown so love the people who live in this beautiful rural community.

Thank you for inviting me. I loved being with all of you tonight.

I love the quiet unhurried pace of life in Moroni.

Snow capped mountains and well groomed fields are a common sight in this community.  My favorite part is the friendly down to earth people who always have a ready smile and a handshake.

The people of Moroni restored this opera and dinner house.

I love the quiet country-side in Sanpete County.

Red Hat Society Meetings Are Fun

I spoke to the women in the Red Hat Society of Salem, Utah tonight. What a wonderful group of women! I enjoyed meeting all of them and talking about ways to bring more love and joy into our lives. A reporter from the Daily Herald covered the event. You can read about it here. 

The Red Hat Society (RHS) is a social organization originally founded in 1998 in the United States for women age 50 and beyond, but now open to women of all ages. As of 2011, there were over 40,000 chapters in the United States and 30 other countries.^[1

Dallan Moody Is Speaking at the BYU Devotional

My son-in-law Dallan Moody will be speaking at the BYU Devotional on March 6th at 11:00 AM in the Marriot Center on BYU campus in Provo Utah. Dallan is without a doubt one of the most amazing men I've ever known. Devotionals are open to the public and they are also broadcast live on channel 11. This will be a speech you won't want to miss. I'll be sitting on the front row "winking" Dallan. I love you.  MOM

Writing is Awesome and Fun!

I was lucky enough to be a guest speaker at Larsen Elementary School today.  Three fifth grade classes joined together as we talked about one of my greatest loves - writing!  I had such a wonderful time with the enthusiastic teachers and students. 

My daughter Ashley is doing her student teaching at this school and will graduate from BYU in December. She is mighty lucky to have such a caring and professional teaching staff to work with her as she learns the fine art of teaching. I have the greatest respect and admiration for those who spend their lives helping children learn and grow. 
Thank you for inviting me.  I loved being with all of you today.
